Why a road trip with no final destination?
So we can see the beautiful sights of the country.

Why no reservations?
So we aren't bound by a rigid schedule on our trip.

30th Anniversary Road Trip 2022

Paul & Mel's Trip

10/15/22 - 10/22/22
3924 Miles
8 States 8 Days

We intended to visit the New England Region, which would have been a first for both of us. We were excited to see the fall foliage in October in that area as well as Acadia National Park; but the cost of plane tickets, car rental and the limited hotel reservations, which were very expensive up there since it's October......we just couldn't afford that right now.

So, although the Daughter and I visited South Dakota in Summer 2021, Hubby hasn't been there in years and wanted to go. So we're going to make it a Road Trip and drive from home in Alabama down on the Gulf Coast, and go through Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and maybe a couple more state - not sure of our exact route yet.

We're excited to visit The Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, etc, it's so beautiful up there. We have a limited amount of days because of Paul's work, but we'll make the most of it. We'll see what else we can discover on the way up and back.

We had SOOOOO much fun!!! It was nice to get out of town and take a break. I would say it was nice to get some rest, but we kept the road hot. We were able make a quick pass by Graceland and then back on the road North. We got to see Badlands Distillery, The Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park but in addition we were able to drive Iron Mountain Road and Needles Highway, and we got to see Sylvan Lake, ate dinner in Sturgis. The weather was gorgeous and we got a TON of beautiful photos. I did not sort the photos by day - I just kinda did a photo dump, so some are out of order.
There's 1,000 photos
ENJOY!!
