Sarah, the daughter, was a Grad Student that was effected by the Pandemic.  Since almost everything closed in Spring 2020, she was unable to travel like she planned in order to gather data for her Thesis.  She was also unable to access any libraries at this time which held rare books that she needed to reference for her Thesis.  Although she had completed her classes and had all her credits; she was unable to complete her Thesis by the deadline instituted by her college, so she was technically not Graduated 2021 as planned....YET!!

Her college, like many, decided that it was safer to cancel Spring Break because of the Pandemic.  We were unable to take our Annual Girls Spring Break Trip.  We had planned on doing a special short trip to celebrate Graduation.  We had talked about how much fun a road trip would be instead of just renting a cabin in Tennessee like we do 'every' year.

I, Mel, the Mom, have worked through the entire Pandemic.  Hubby and I have been blessed to still have the income, but we are exhausted from the longer than usual work days.  I'm just ready to have a nice long 'sabbatical' without a schedule and folks either lined up at my desk or on the phone waiting for me to help them with something.

So....we decided to just go ahead, plan it and DO IT!

We picked out sights to see that interest us and then planned our route.  Sarah has a break before summer work starts and I have taken time off work.  Our entire trip is estimated to be around 7000 Miles and according to our calculations (allowing extra days in some specific locations) it will take us 3 weeks.

Check back daily to see what beautiful things we were able to see and the fun things we were able to experience.

UPDATE!

WE DID IT!!   AND IT WAS SOOOO MUCH FUN!!

We saw so many things that we have to look back at our photos to remember them all.  We had fantastic weather all but 1 day and 1 evening.

There were so many beautiful sites, photos don't do them justice.

And we're ready to go it again! LOL

Each day we would get up between 6am-7am, if the hotel offered breakfast we would take advantage of it and then head out.  We would locate a hotel before dark for the night each evening; that way we weren't traveling in the dark.

We purposely did not eat at any restaurants that we have at home (except for a milkshake from Whataburger once and some chicken nuggets from Wendy's once).  We ate local and usually small business.  We tried brews from the local breweries.  Lunches mostly consisted of either snacking in the car while rolling down the road or when we would stop for a bathroom/fuel break we would make sandwiches from the ice chest.

AND.....May 2022.....Sarah is officially graduated from Grad School now!

She's working now so no more long vacations for her anytime soon.

I need to drag Hubby Paul out drive this same route, he'd love it!!
